Dinner last night was supposed to be at a Middle Eastern restaurant in Sunny Isles, but plans quickly changed when D and I spotted Jefe’s Original Fish Taco & Burger parked next to Waggle Brothers as we drove on Biscayne Boulevard. Without hesitation, we swerved off Biscayne and onto the small parking lot.
It seems like [...]

On Saturday evening, I found myself at a taco truck on a parking lot in the corner of NW 27th Avenue and NW 35th Street. My visit wasn’t exactly planned. Jackie, who I was meeting earlier that day for other matters, invited me to go with her to the truck where she was meeting the [...]

Nope, it’s not exactly a pizza food truck. It’s Forno52, a pizza catering business with a mobile wood-burning oven. One, they say, that reaches temperatures of between 700 and 900 degrees. I came across Forno52’s booth and bright orange portable oven last weekend at Fairchild Tropical Garden’s Chocolate Festival.
As I glanced at the menu, owner [...]

Remember One Ninety? Its chef, Alan Hughes, recently resurfaced with a brand new website and lots of interesting projects, including a one-table restaurant called Luuur, where the chef will cook you and your friends dinner. (Read my mini-interview with chef Hughes over at Short Order.) The chef’s latest newsletter, however, brought an intriguing piece of [...]

With all the talk of food trucks leading up to this weekend, it was hard to resist going to one. D, SteveBM and I grabbed a bite at gastroPOD Miami, chef Jeremiah Bullfrog’s food truck, yesterday. The shiny airstream was set up in front of the Miami Independent Thinkers fair in Wynwood for Art Basel [...]

If you like Filipino delicacies like pork chocolate and fried squid — I personally have never tasted either, but I’m tempted — you can find them at Irving Matutina’s food truck at the Port of Miami. Read more in the Sun Post’s article by Danny Brody, who has contributed to this blog a few times [...]

This spotted driving on Northeast Second Avenue, near the Design District, this weekend. I drive around there pretty often, but this was the first time I’d seen James Bar B Que.
