It’s time for February’s food events. Again, I’m doing this each month to highlight events that I think are interesting. If something comes up after I write this post, I’ll add it to the calendar (I’ve also added a link to the header).
Let’s get the big one out of the way first. The South Beach Wine & Food Festival will be here in less than four weeks. The extravaganza kicks off on Thursday, February 25 and ends on Sunday, February 28. Many events are sold out but not all are. Check the festival’s website for a full schedule.
On February 27, Slow Food Miami will be hosting a 7.5-mile bike tour of Redland Farms. Don’t worry if you don’t have a bike, rentals will be available. The tour concludes with lunch prepared by Kris Wessel of Red Light and Kira Volz of Creek28. Details coming soon to the Slow Food Miami website.
February also means Valentine’s Day. Por Fin Restaurant in Coral Gables is hosting a pre-Valentine’s happy hour on Friday, February 5 from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tapitas are $5 and drinks are 2-for-1. Guys get a third drink for the “object of their affection.”
From February 8-10, sample Italian wines and meet winemakers at the Vinitaly Tour.
On February 10, blogger Sushi Pro is hosting a Sake Tasting/Tweetup at Sushi Ko Japanese Restaurant. It’s only $22 with tax and gratuity included for five sake pairings with sushi snacks. More info and RSVP here.
Paradise Farms will host Lovin’ in the Garden as part of its Dinner in Paradise series of dinners. Now that would be romantic. Dinner outside the city, under the stars. $165.50 per person.
Also on Valentine’s Day weekend, from February 12-14, Delray Beach hosts the Garlic Fest. I’ve never been but it sounds intriguing. There are chef demos and competitions and musical performances by Everclear and The Wailers among others.
Area 31 will be holding a Fish + Wine Dinner to coincide with the South Beach Wine & Food Fest on February 25. Four-course menu of dish duets plus wine pairings. $175 ++ per person. More information on the restaurant’s website.
That’s all I have for now. If I’ve forgotten something, send it my way.
