Not too long ago Carolina Bolado, former editor of the MenuPages South Florida blog, confirmed on SFDB that the blog was no more. No real explanation was given. Yesterday, New York magazine’s food blog Grub Street went national, launching editions that incorporate MenuPages for Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Chicago, in addition to the original New York edition. The parent company of Grub Street acquired MenuPages last year, so with the national launch, Grub Street becomes the blog component of MenuPages in the cities launched. Could that mean a South Florida edition is in the making?
Update: Heard back from Carolina and the answer is no on a Grub Street South Florida. There will be an editorial component to MenuPages South Florida but it’ll be less of a blog, more features. Launch date is still to be determined.
Update2: This from NY media: “We remain committed to the MenuPages South Florida site and will be adding restaurant recommendations for our SF readership soon (best lists and such). We’ve decided not to establish a Grub Street outpost there. The large geographic territory covered by this MenuPages site (it’s the only one covering more than one city) made it a more challenging prospect for blogging on the Grub Street model.”
