The second Coral Gables Restaurant Week starts this coming Monday, June 1 and runs for two weeks through June 14. Menus at most participating restaurants are between $18-$27 for lunch and hover around the $35-$36 area for dinner with the exception of Morton’s ($49.99) and Ruth’s Chris ($39.95).
I hope to use this as a push to try Por Fin, which for $36 gives you plenty of first, second and third course options to choose from, plus any dessert from their menu. No, I haven’t tried Por Fin yet (gasp!) and among all the participating restaurants, it had the most attractive menu to me. The others were uninspiring aside perhaps from that of Ortanique, which I may also try. Their menu is $36 and changes daily, but you can view a sample menu here.
Looking at Por Fin’s Restaurant Week menu choices, I would likely start off with the gazpacho, followed by the huevos Por Fin (fried eggs served with potato crisps, potato foam, Serrano ham and truffle oil) or maybe the ceviche. Then, I think I’d lean toward the cochinillo (roasted suckling pig) or the arroz negro con calamares (Arborio rice with squid ink and sauteed squid).
Hmmm, I’m getting a little hungry.

Rachael and I love Ortanique, but I’ve always been curious about Cacao (http://www.coralgablesrestaurantweek.com/PDF/Cacao_DinnerMenu.pdf) so I hope that we’ll try it.
Yes, Ortanique is my favorite restaurant, without a doubt. Let’s try them all!
Ortanique is so yummy!!! But these events are great opportunities to try new things…can’t wait to hear about Por Fin
You must try the huevos por fin…so simple, but tasty.
