Dark skies didn’t deter D and I from taking a mini-excursion to Homestead this afternoon. I wanted to see if a visit to Robert is Here would give me some ideas for a locally inspired pie. This fruit stand, which has been around since 1960, carries an array of tropical fruit, numerous jellies, marinades and sauces, and delicious tropical fruit milk shakes and smoothies.

As soon as we stepped in, the rain came down pounding and a large puddle quickly formed in the front of the store. We had no choice but to wait with the other patrons.

Has anyone out there tried jackfruit?

I had to pick up some mangoes …

… and some herbs. We also brought back home green beans, tomatoes, sweet corn, oranges and mamey. I am, however, still looking for pie inspiration.
