It’s market time in Coral Gables

Wax beans and radishes - Coral Gables Farmers Market

The Coral Gables Farmers Market in front of City Hall kicks off today and will run every Saturday through March 28 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A gardening demonstration will be held each market day at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m a cooking demonstration with local chefs. See pictures from my visit last year here.

And speaking of the market, Slow Food Miami will hold a Stone Crab Picnic there on January 31. The picnic features stone crabs from Everglades City and sides from Mise en Place. Seats are filling up quickly. For more information, visit the Slow Food Miami website.

  1. Check out the South Florida Farmers market in Pinecrest. It’s every Sunday from 8-1, in the parking lot of the Gardners Market on 124th St & US1. There are several farmers there, including two local organic growers, plus some great prepared foods, locally-made cheeses, orchids and nursery plants, and more!
