Recently I ate some green mango, tasted like soap , no flavor and its consistency was creamy. Is it normal, or the thing I bought was just rotten? I never ate mango before… and I am very disappointed of the one I tried.

i am from Jamaica and this is how we eat green mangoes also, we also add some pepper at times, thank god i can get that here in NY anytime i feel the urge, lol

Mangos verdes!!! For the love of God! Oh my goodness… I was at the grocery store at 1 am trying to buy some b/c they were only $1 but they were all green…

I’m so glad they were good for you!!! It’s certainly my favorite fruit of all time!

I don’t think I’ve heard of green mangoes before! I thought they were just a different ripeness of the regular mangoes. I”ll have to keep my eye out for them in the gourmet grocery section.

My girlfriend introduced me to mangoes by splashing it with hot sauce and adding salt. I LOVE salt with mangoes.

In Puerto Rico this would be considered sacrilege! The only time I’ve seen mangoes in this state on the island is when we pickle them.

I am from India & we also eat green mangoes with sprinkled salt. It’s delicious. We also make chutneys from green mangoes. I never tried lime on green mangoes. Thanks for the tip. I’ll try it out.

I remember in Asia, people like to sprinkle salt on their fruit because they claim it brings out the sweetness. My mom did it especially to pineapple. Interesting he put so much on that it was too salty. You look like you’re having a wonderful rest, lucky you but well deserved.
