Now open: Sake Room

The sushi restaurant next to Bin 18 is now open. We didn’t try it last night, opting instead to do the usual at Bin 18. I must confess we wondered if it was even open because it was completely empty when we walked by. The good news is, on our way out, we saw several groups dining inside. One more in the neighborhood to try out.

  1. how was bin 18?

  2. bin 18 was good, though it was a slow night (MLK day) so their specials were pretty much variations of what’s on the menu. I ordered gnocchi but they were out so D and I ate a half roasted chicken over mushroom risotto which was pretty good.

  3. tried it with 2 friends last night. they still don’t have a liquor license (surprising as the name of the place is “sake room”) so we had to grab a bottle of wine from the neighbor, bin 18. the service was pretty accommodating as we wanted to sit outside. the tuna tartar was pretty good and so was the spicy shrimp tempura (although the shrimp could have been larger). rolls we had: yellowtail, spicy shrimp, dragon–all good. overall, the service needs some sharpening, staff pretty friendly, food good, decor modern. i think after a few weeks the effieiency of their service will improve and the overall experience will be much better.

  4. Thanks for the report, Lejee. Maybe I’ll wait a few weeks before I visit.
