Mood-enhancing tea cake?

lunacake.jpg

I had a minor, almost comedic accident last night. The result: a swollen hand, quite a bit of pain and a cranky me. But while at Wild Oats this evening looking for arnica or something that would alleviate me, I came across a sweet treat by the makers of Luna bars: Luna tea cakes ($0.99). Craving something sweet — or perhaps craving some comfort — I bought one. The “mood lifting” one to be exact — to fit the occasion, you know. They also have one for longevity and one for healthy skin.

The vanilla macadamia tea-infused cake is for mood balance, they claim, and contains “mood lifting” omega-3, vitamin D and antioxidants from rooibos red tea by The Republic of Tea. Sweet but not too sweet, I was impressed; it reminded me a bit of eating a Fig Newton, only bigger and with macadamia nuts. (For the record, I’m a Luna bar fan.)

I can’t really say the tea cake lifted my mood, but I did get a little comfort and joy during the few minutes it took me to eat it. Now, what would really lift my mood is my hand going back to normalcy.
