Rick’s post today about SotP Reader’s Best Of South Florida made me think of the places I really like to go to in Miami. Last night I had dinner at La Sandwicherie on South Beach, which definitely makes my list. The concept and the locale of this small French deli, unlike the quality of its food, are modest. It sits squeezed between a tattoo parlor and an alley facing a gas station. It serves simply sandwiches, salads and smoothies. Last night, I ate the turkey salad. Basically, what’s in the turkey sandwich sans the bread. Their sandwiches are loaded with fresh vegetables — lettuce, tomato, carrots, onions, green peppers, cournichons (French pickles), olives — which I think help make them taste so fresh. You can just smell the veggies as soon as you start to approach the window, where you order and sit by the counter to eat. As an added benefit, they’ll make your sandwich pretty much however you want it, even if it’s not on the menu. Oh yes, and it’s open until 5 a.m. Inevitably, due to its location you might bump into tourists and partygoers, but it’s worth the hassle. For me, it’s a must-try in Miami.

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried their smoothies but they’re awesome! I always get the Rainbow–orange juice, banana, blueberries and raspberries. Perfection.
And while I’m sharing, you have to try their prosciutto and fresh mozarella croissant sandwich–tomato, lettuce, mayo, balsamic vinegar and of course, their FAMOUS SAUCE! It’s maybe a horse radish honey mustard but I think they must put crack in it because it’s that amazing.
I had a friend who would steal entire bottles of sauce to take home… I just always ask for extra
How could I forget the sauce?!?! Yes, it’s delicious. It has Dijon mustard for sure. They add that to their salads too. I haven’t tried the smoothies yet but I will…
