They call it guerrilla or underground dining and it’s coming to Miami. Tonight, tomorrow and Friday, The Ghetto Gourmet, started by brothers Joe and Jeremy Townsend in Oakland, California, will offer diners a menu by guest chef Tim Trojian at different locations in South Florida.
This is not your regular dining experience. The Ghetto Gourmet began with the brothers hosting groups of strangers in their apartment for good food. Since then, they’ve been holding these dining events at private homes, warehouses, art galleries and the like as part of what seems to now be a growing trend of communal dining. You bring your own booze — and your own seat (floor cushion, folding chair, whatever you like). They provide good food, local entertainers and other interesting foodies.
Cost for the events is $45 while the locations are determined and $55 after. The event tonight is in Dania, tomorrow night in the Design District and on Friday night in North Miami. The address for the events is emailed to you after you purchase your ticket.
I’ve been incredibly curious about this since I first read about it back in September, so stay tuned for a full report of the experience. Better yet, try going.

Are you going? I’m SO curious about it. I look forward your report!
Sara - Yes! I’m going to tonight’s event and I still don’t know exactly where in the Design District it’s going to be. I’m pretty curious myself.
I wanna go! But I can’t. I wish I would have read this sooner, sounds like a good story for the paper. I Love You!
